JUNE 6: PORT WASHINGTON, NY

After a quiet night at anchor, we took His Majesty, Gerbeaud, ashore for his constitutionals and then prepared to depart for Port Washington as we wend our way to New York City.  The weather gods are really smiling on us so far as calm seas and blue skies are in store for us yet again today.

The town of Port Washington offers free town mooring to visiting mariners for two nights so we availed ourselves of their generosity and spent a relaxing night after enjoying bottle of Meerlust Chardonay-included for our SA followers!

The first transatlantic seaplane flights from the US to Ireland took off from Port Washington (Pan-Am airlines and the forerunner of BOAC-BA.  There is still a restricted area in the harbor for seaplane landings.
